Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine cult.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Extra Content
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana in addition to multiple objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also brings the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
